Coleman A. Young II is the son of Detroit’s first black mayor, Coleman Young. Coleman II ran for mayor of Detroit in 2017, promising to “Take Back the Motherland” and place a renewed emphasis on serving the interests of Detroit’s black community. But he lost by a wide margin to incumbent mayor Mike Duggan.

Coleman II appears in Episode 19.

To my father, the Honorable Coleman Alexander Young, who beat back STRESS, and if you didn’t like it, you could hit Eight Mile Road. We are taking this city back!
