Courtney Brown

In the 1960s, Courtney Brown worked as a city bus driver and raised his family on the West Side of Detroit. But he eventually joined his childhood friend Eddie Jackson in dealing heroin, rising to become Eddie’s second-in-command. Courtney oversaw many of the logistical aspects of the business, and eventually earned the nickname “The Field Marshall.” Like Eddie, Courtney moved his family out to Southfield, a wealthy suburb of Detroit.

Courtney appears in “The Fat Man and the Field Marshall.”

It was new to me, to know that you could buy anything you wanna buy. And it changed my whole lifestyle.
